Amber

Forever in our hearts
Amber was a best friend, with me through wonderful years. I got her as an 8 week old puppy and was with her most every day. She passed just recently on August 17, 2015 and I grieve a little every day, but when that happens I pause to reflect on the wonderful times we had. Anything can remind me of her, passing a park we walked in, seeing a box of her favorite Frosty Paw treats in the freezer at the store, seeing other Golden Retrievers prancing down the street with their owners during my commute to work. Amber was a lucky girl who got to swim in three oceans, flew to California and back when we moved there for awhile, took an awesome road trip from our home in Chicago down to Florida, enjoying treats like beef jerky, ice cream and sandwiches from every roadside stop. Every time we'd stop and come back to the car, she looked at us like "what ya got for me now?". She was a dear buddy to me and many others, including my 2 1/2 year old grandson. He'd give her big hugs or simply rest his head on her back and she didn't budge. Amber celebrated her 15th birthday just this past July and we spent the day riding around in the convertible, at the dog park, a stop at the dog bakery and finished it off with a grilled pork chop dinner. Shortly after her birthday she didn't seem right, a trip to the vet confirmed that her blood levels had gone off the charts and an ultrasound showed multiple lesions on several organs. God Bless you Amber, I miss you so much!
