Annie
Forever in our hearts
Annie was a throwaway dog from down the road. She always came over to play with my other two Goldens and at night instead of going home she would sleep on my front porch. Eventually Annie's owner relinquished her to me but Annie was never just one persons dogs. She wouldn't allow me to make her my heart dog nor would she stay home. Many times I would see her walk down my driveway to go visit one of the many other canyon houses she called 'home'. Annietheneighbordog was everyone's dog. As she got older her walks got shorter and arthritis curtailed her wanderlust. She also suffered from larangeal paralysis so it was imperative that she not be allowed to wander the forest. She was my protector.. that's the role she chose for herself...to keep me safe from strangers, other dogs and things that went bump in the night....she never left my side ...much to the dismay of our other two dogs who rarely got to sit next to me. When Annie turned 15 she started slowing down considerably and a couple times she just looked up at me and I knew this was the end ( end of what?). Hubby had been out of town working and would only come home fri-sat but this night he came home Thursday. Annie was very verbal and every morning ..or whenever daddy came home...she would welcome the day or the visitor with enthusiastic ROO ROO ROOOOOOOOs. Daddy came home Thursday night and after Annie greeted him outside we all retired to bed. At 4 am that morning Annie passed away. She waited for her daddy.
