Athena
Forever in our hearts
Athena was a part of my husbands and my life for only a year and a half. She was a rescue, approximately 12 year old pit mix. So very gentle, a kind old soul. She loved to lay on the couch, wag her tail when she saw us, smiled a lot, and brought a toy to the front door when we or someone else came in to our home.
When she layed down one day and became quiet, we knew there was a problem. We didn't expect to be told that either she has an operation to take out a large bleeding tumor, and live maybe another 4-6 months, or she has maybe, a few days left.
The operation would have taken a terrible toll on her, with added pain.
We took her home, pampered her, sat by her, feed her by hand, and she passed away at home, after two additional weeks, with us by her side.
We wish more people would know the wonderful world of pit dogs. They are so precious, comforting, protective, loving, gentle dogs. Miss her terribly
