Brody

Forever in our hearts

Brody was a healthy vibrant Golden Retriever who was my running buddy. Brody was born on November 19, 2011. His birth was less than a miracle. He was the first born of litter of 10 that the owner wanted aborted because their female had just weaned a litter of 13. The miracle was the veterinarian refused to do it and convinced the owners to allow the momma to be fostered. He and his sibling were absolutely beautiful but Brody was special because he picked me and I fell in love. All the pups had digestive issues but Brody's lasted longer. He was put on a digestive dog food and he put on weight and became healthy. Life was so wonderful, he was your typical Golden Retriever, he loved everyone and boy was he handsome. I was so in love with my sweet boy. We had some really great runs. He helped me train for my 1/2 marathon. But one day we ran 3 miles and three days later he threw up. We went to the Vet and he was diagnosed with lymphatic colon cancer. We did chemo only to prolong his life for maybe for 4 months. The first two weeks he did great and we did the third treatment and he took a turn for the worst. Brody peacefully died 1 week after his third birthday. It will be a year in November since I lost my sweet boy and I still miss him every day. My heart is still broken. His legacy will live on.. For the Love of Brody .. Cancer Awareness! Educating the public about cancer! Thank you Morris foundation for your research study with Golden Retrievers. Find a cure!
