Chester
Forever in our hearts
My pet that changed my life was a Cocker spaniel named Chester. Before my son Eric gave him to me, I had no interest in dogs or cats.
Chester came to me because Eric was at CU in Boulder and had moved into a house that didn't allow animals. I was supposed to keep Chester for the summer. Needless to say I fell in love with him and kept him for ht rest of his 14 year life.
Chester taught me the wonderful meaning of unconditional love. I loved my three sons that way, this was different. My sons were in college and Chester was always with me. Through this bonding, I finally understood other animal lovers and how much our bonding with dogs helped us.
It was an extremely uplifting moment.
At first I decided I couldn't go through that kind of pain again and vowed to never get another dog. HA! Four months later I got a white and brown Cocker, a puppy boy name Sugar. He is now 14 and he has a sister I got from a rescue facility three years ago. Her name is Sophie. I'll always be grateful to Chester for the lesson he taught me.
