Chewbacca "Chewy" Gold
My best friend. My co-pilot. My running partner. It has been 2 1/2 years since we said goodbye to Chewy. One of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make. We drove 2 hours to get him from the breeder. He was my first puppy. Oh how crazy he drove me those first few months. He wouldn't stop chewing on the cat toys, chewing on the tree, eating the wall plaster! He loved his leash and would carry it around the house, even on that last day. Everything made him happy except when the batteries died in the smoke detectors. He would hide from that beeping noise. For 13 years we couldn't put our toilet paper on the holder. He loved taking my sneakers, my husband's socks, my daughter's stuffed animals,Chewy just carried them with him around the house. I tought him to run with me, and we ran my daughter in her stroller, we ran in the snow and the rain. He just wanted to be with me. He was always there when I needed a paw to hold, a face to kiss, a tongue to lick away my tears. I was honored with 13 years of having him, making sweet memories for me to remember every single day. A love so pure and loyal. I would have done anything for him, if only they could have figured out how to save him. To quote a poem's last sentence of my life with Chewy... Take with you this...I loved you best.
