Cirrus
Forever in our hearts
Cirrus was called by all who knew him a gentle giant. He was large for an Aussie, as was his mother. The day my husband and I met him, he was one of six brothers. Such a hard decision. We visited him for several weeks, since the litter was too young to take any home yet. Then, on one visit, this tiny blue Merle boy put his paws on my husbands knees, and so it was that he chose us.
Of all the dogs we had in our life, the gentleness and understanding from this dog was very unique.
We went everywhere together, did training, agility, frisby. He loved everyone, and everyone loved him, even other dogs.
After he was 12, he began to slow down, and we were told he had cancer. At this time, we already had brought another Aussie in to our home, a little red Merle girl, Chekotah. She was 6 now, and we adopted a pit rescue, Athena, ( who I wrote about here ). As the days passed and we knew
Cirrus was in pain and not happy anymore, so we made that difficult decision to let him go, so he can rest easy.
The hole in ones heart that is made by these decisions and the feeling of missing them is, as you know, very painful. I wish we could teach the world how to treat these magnificent animals who only want to be with us, protect us, and love us. We need to reach out to children who abuse animals for then they can become those who harm humans later on.
