Clementine
Forever in our hearts
Most everyone has "that one special dog of a lifetime"; and Clementine was mine. She was my very best friend and I miss her every day. She was diagnosed with cancer in October, 2014. We were told, by her oncologist, that she would probably not make it to Christmas. But, being a spunky, little bulldog - we fought that horrible disease, together, for 18 months. I made her promise me that when she was ready to cross the Bridge, that she would let me know. In May of this year, Clemmie stopped eating and wouldn't even try a steak that I cooked for her. A bulldog (especially Clem) will never miss a meal; so we knew it was time.
She has now earned her wings; and my heart has been ripped from my chest.
That little girl taught me so much in her 9 short years. I think the most important lesson is to always "live life in the present". She never knew that she was dying, as we did, and she was a happy, little wiggle-butt right up to her last day.
I feel more than lucky to have been her mom; and life will never be the same without you - my wonderful Clemmie girl. We will meet again. I hope there are many tennis balls in heaven.
As Winnie the Pooh said: How lucky am I to have someone tht makes saying goodbye so hard.
