In His wisdom, the Lord didn’t give me children.
But, one day, He blessed me
with a little white ball of fluff.

Cookie, I named you
because that’s what Mom used to call me.
I told her, “Worry about the small Cookie now, not the big one.”

You look up at me with your big, brown eyes
with all the love and trust in the world.

My sweet little angel,
you bring a smile to the faces of so many people,
then, they’re amazed to hear the yapping
that comes out of such a tiny dog.

I’ve held you in quiet moments,
and melt when you rest your head on my shoulder.
I’ve sat up with you nights through sickness,
thunder, and the loss of our other dog, Trixie.

You’re my baby, my puppy, my pal.
You make me laugh every day.
I can’t think of a time without you.
And you’ll always be in my heart.
