Dakota
Forever in our hearts
Dakota was a wedding gift to me from my husband, Gary, in 1990. He named our farm, Dakota Ridge Farm, after him. He was a very special llama and would go anywhere with me. He loved going for long walks into town, causing chaos on the streets, as there weren't too many llamas around at that time. Throughout the years, Dakota attended many fairs, parades, events, gave birthday parties, and helped our 4-H Club kids learn about llamas. He even had his own fan club. We used to call Dakota the "kissing" llama, because he wanted to smell the face of almost every person he met, putting his lips right on their face. He lived until almost 24 years of age, struggling with arthritis in his later years. There will never be another quite like him, he will always be in my heart. And, I will always see his eyes wherever I go.
