george was a gentle giant, afraid of cats, squirrels and generally anything under 40 pounds. george picked her own name, suddenly responding to it when someone named george stopped by the house. she loved car rides and was desperately afraid of fireworks. used to find her cleaning up the coffee table at neighbors cocktail parties. when i told her not to jump off our dock to follow me on my windsurfer, she went and jumped off the dock next door. when she lost a front leg to cancer she retained her spirit, and as i slept on the floor with her, after 4 or 5 days she got back up on the bed, leaving me on the floor! her spirit lives on forever in my heart
