Goldy

Forever in our hearts

GOLDY! A true legend! Goldy was the last of a litter and in true form, he chose US, and most notably, my 5 year old son. He joined our family and grew up, literally with my kids, who were 5, 3 and 6 months old at the time. He was a great dog who loved his family. He was a hunting Golden and excelled at that as well. To this day, my husband still refers to him as the best hunting dog he ever had. In 2010, after just celebrating his 11th birthday, he was having difficulty getting up. We brought him to the vet, and then to the University of Minnesota, where it was soon discovered that he had soft tissue sarcoma that they had suspected had spread to his spine. They did not advocate any treatment; we were told to bring him home and love him, which we did for 24 hours. His pain was SO great that we sadly decided to say goodbye to him the next day. One of the saddest days of my life. My wish is that the Morris Foundation will continue to do good work in fighting canine cancer and helping dogs, especially these endearing Golden Retrievers, lead longer lives. I proudly support the Morris Foundation in Goldy and his "brother" Eddy's memory. We are now on our third Golden. Our Millie just turned one year. I am doing EVERYTHING I can to help her lead a long life!
