Grinder Louise
Forever in our hearts
Grinder Louise was rescued from the campground Grinder's Ferry on the Buffalo river in Arkansas in 2001. It was apparent she had whelped puppies and had been living on her own, without shelter, for a while as she was infested with fleas and ticks and ended up testing positive for a tick borne illness. Grinder adjusted well to the city life in Tulsa, Oklahoma and went to work everyday with her owner Rachel. Grinder's first dog friend was Princeton, a medium large black mixed breed who moved to Oklahoma from Colorado. Grinder and Princeton became life-long, inseparable pack mates who taught each other how much company and loyalty a dog companion could be. Grinder made it clear, from day one that she was the boss, had been the boss and would always be the boss throughout their relationship--Princeton conceded without incident.
Grinder loved keeping watch from her backyard pad, playing with her large collection of stuffed toys (balls were her favorite) laying in the sun, rolling in the grass, camping at state parks and taking summer trips to Chicago. She was a tough terrier who loved people and tolerated few canines. Grinder never missed a meal and was a staunch clock-watcher to remind Rachel when it was feeding time, treat time and Greenie time. There is a huge void in the world where Grinder resided and she will be missed by many but no one will miss her more than her owner, Rachel, who lavished her with a life full of unconditional love, care and dedication.
