Gushi

Forever in our hearts

Gushi was short for Gushiken Ogawa Kuma, which is Strong willed little river bear in Japanese. She came into our home when I needed her the most and helped me heal right after the loss of my parents. She met my dad before he passed away and brought joy to our house. She was goofy, fun, and loved with all her heart. She was a gentle giant. She brought joy to all who met her, and had a litter of 14 puppies, broke them out of the puppy pen on Christmas day, one of the best Christmas memories ever. She leaves behind a legacy of beautiful loving dogs. She was an Akita with Timberwolf, smart as could be, but loved to play, and loved animals. She would talk to the TV when animals were on the screen, and her greeting was like a foghorn. All that met her loved her. So our gentle giant, you captured our hearts and left us far to soon, at only 7 years old, still full of life, healthy until cancer took you away. You will be forever in our hearts, and took a piece of my heart with you.

The journey through grief is different for everyone, but we know support, community and sharing stories help make the experience one of remembrance, renewal and even celebration of the life lost. We hope you find comfort in the memorial you’ve set up for your companion and encourage you to share with family and friends so they can show their love and support.
