Hershey, Cody and Schottze

Forever in our hearts
When my wife-to-be and I first met she had Hershey, the lovable Eeyore-like chocolate lab and Shotze, the queen-of-the castle min-pin. I had Cody, the hard-headed (and not terribly socialable!) companion Nowegian Elkhound since he was 8 weeks old. Dogs are our "children" and they mean the world to us. As she and I grew closer and realized WE had a future together we had to figure out how our pets were going to tolerate each other. We took our sidekicks to a nuetral park to see how the intro would go. A few rear-end sniffs, a couple bared canine teeth and a stern "you guys better get over it!" and everyone seemed to accept each other. Not long after, my adult love became my wife and the canines became our blended family. Through their remaning years all they had illness and injuries, but tolerated all far better than their "parents." And through it all, they became best friends and lifelong buddies. One by one they all grew older and each passed on until we had an empty next. And while we adopted one of our neighbor's dogs for a time and now have two unbelievable rescue sons, Hershey, Cody and Shotze will always be remembered for the light and joy they brought to both for those many years!
