Jake
Forever in our hearts
I remember the day we picked up Jake, April 25, 2002, to bring him home. Holding him in my lap as we drove down the road, I can still see him looking up into my eyes and whimpering. From that day on, he was my shadow. He earned the nickname "Jumping Jake" after we discovered how he loved to leap through the air without any warning. He always made us laugh with his shenanigans as he was very creative in doing things for attention. He was a master pick-pocket and loved to snuggle on cold winter nights.
When he started limping and nothing showed on x-rays, they suspected a tumor on a nerve at his shoulder. A few months later, they found a metastatic tumor on his lung that was not there six months prior. The vet thought we could take him home and have some more time with him, but we to have him put down the very next day.
I still miss him, but remember him with a smile. I am thankful God allowed him to be part of our lives for 12 wonderful years. His memory will always hold a special place in our hearts.
