Kaleigh Kisses

Forever in our hearts
It's been nearly 7 months but the memory of losing you is still raw and I struggle most days not to break down when I look at your picture. You were our first rescue pup but in reality, it was you who rescued me. You loved me unconditionally, even through the struggles and demons I was dealing with, never once did you make me feel less than. Even through my tears, a smile manages to break through when I think of the kids in the neighborhood running, jumping on the hoods of cars yelling "Kaleigh's out", they had no idea you just liked to mess with them and would never have hurt them. Even as you got older you remained ornery, sneaking out of the yard, pretending you didn't hear me calling and waiting until I just about reached you before sprinting up the alley. I have your photo above my dresser and I kiss you every day, missing you more than I can bear but I know you are no longer in pain and are running free at the Rainbow Bridge with Angel, Cheyenne, Cody, Jake and Renzi. When my time comes, I hope you are waiting at the gate for me.
