Lady
Forever in our hearts
Here is Lady watching her daddy pull into the driveway. Lady was a rescue of Lab mix and Australian sheep dog. She was our "once in a lifetime" dog. We never expected so much love and personality. We lost her suddenly at the age of three. We were out of town. She was boarded at her beloved play school. We got a call as we were returning home that she had had a seizure and died. The autopsy had no explanation, not even the numerous tissue samples sent to Auburn University. We were stunned and grief stricken..WE WERE NOT THERE!! Here is a poem I wrote about her. It is based on the song "Honeybun" from the movie "South Pacific" performed by Mitzi Gaynor.
Our girl was as dainty as a sparrow.
Her figure was something to applaud.
Where she was narrow, she was narrow as an arrow.
And she was broad where a broad should be broad.
Forty-one pounds of fun...that's our little Lady girl...every pound was packed with dynamite.
We're speakin of our Sweetie pie, only 20 inches high...every inch was packed with dynamite.
Her hair was black and shiny. Her running fast, her herding funny...Twirly and Whirly!
We were the booby, She was the trap. We were caught and could not run. We were havin too much fun with Lady girl.
Lady was our incredible and surprising encore to Callie and Winston, who died of cancer at the age of ten years, one year before Lady came along
