Lainey
We rescued Lainey, originally Elaine and her daughter Willow on August 17, 2020. They were/are the most wonderful girls in the world. Even though they were said to be golden retriever mixes, after DNA, we found Lainey to be 80% border collie and 20% german shepherd while Willow is 80% golden retriever and 20% german shepherd. Lainey was my brown-eyed girl. She had the most beautiful brown eyes and absolutely loved going for rides and walks. I couldn't pick up the car keys, put on a hat or jacket without her putting her head up from wherever she was and looking at me for her next trip in the car. In March of 2022, we found out that Lainey had osteosarcoma of the jawbone. We took her to Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston weekly for 6 months. Her love of car rides made the trips of 1.5 hours each way easier to do. After many CT scans, surgery to remove the tumor, 4 radiation treatments and 2 chemo treatments, the tumor just kept coming back. We finally had to say goodbye to her on August 29, 2022 at the estimated age of 5 years. We only got to enjoy her for 2 years but she will live on in our hearts. Her daughter, Willow is estimated to be about 3 years old now and she is such a joy. We truly believe Lainey took care of her after they were abandoned and made sure she got to her forever home. We miss her every day.
