Levi Elvis
Forever in our hearts
The very day I took this photo, 7-7-15, of my healthy looking and very affectionate little 7 lb toy poodle mix, Levi, he suffered a massive grand mal seizure in the wee hours. The 24-hour vet saved him. Levi (who I called Buddy most of the time) did well for almost 6 months on Phenobarbitol and we thought it might have been a fluke. He played ball, the meds gave him a bigger appetite, but he stayed in shape. Then Christmas Eve he had another, short but violent seizure. His meds were increased, others tried, but the seizures came more often till we put him to sleep on 3-14-16. He's only been gone about 6 months. I cry when I think how he was alive this time last year. A CT scan might have revealed a tumor, but our vet said he was so small and if it were a brain tumor they would not operate.
He was my first agility dog and could weave like a tiny Border when he was at the top of his game. He appeared on the news, did small dog agility demos and was in the opening theme of America's Top Dog in a little clown suit, jumping out of a jack in the box. He volunteered with me to visit the old in care homes and pulled in hundreds of dollars whenever we manned a Salvation Army Kettle.
But fetching and catching a ball was Levi's passion from 8 weeks old almost to the end. I miss my little Buddy cuddled up next to me in bed, his little kisses, his gentle nature and little bark. He brought me, my husband and others such joy. Levi was my heart dog, The Dog of My Life.
