Macie

Macie was my 'heart dog'... She passed on Sept 8, 2016, after a 5 year battle with some mysterious metastatic carcinoma in her chest. Never pinpointed, but it responded to Carboplatin three times over the years, so we felt very blessed to have the folks at NCSU Vet School as her troops in the fight. Macie was a rock star at NCSU (nicknamed the "Platinum Retriever" there!), teaching so many vets, vet techs, and nurses compassion, hope, and humility. She loved her people, her pool, and her "babies". And Ice. And Monkey Grass. And scooting :-) She even loved her baby brother, Milo, Hero #1989. She taught him to be a great golden too! We miss her so much, but she let us know she was tired when her kidneys just couldn't carry on. It's so hard to say goodbye, but my sweet girl prepared me for 5 years. I loved every moment with her!
