Maggie and Cubbie

Forever in our hearts
We got Cubbie at 7 weeks old and she was so wild so I found a breeder who bred laid back Golden's and got Maggie at age 7 weeks too. Cubbie was a year old at the time and they became the best of friends. They did everything together and loved each other. Cubbie grew into the most wonderful dog ever, . She would talk with her eyes and Maggie would make sounds to talk to us. Last summer Cubbie was diagnosed with cancer and died July 8th only a few weeks after her diagnosis. She was 11 years old. I thought since Maggie was never sick and was only ten that we would have her for a few more years, but five weeks to the day she left us. She had a huge mass around her heart and there was nothing they could do for her. Needles to say we were devastated. I truly feel Maggie was heart broken after Cubbie left us. She would go and lay on the spot where we put Cubbie to sleep. She was so sad, I know she missed her so much. If we mentioned Cubbie's name her ears would perk up and she would look around as if looking for her. We had a huge July 4th party with lot of family here and Cubbie spent the whole day playing and enjoying the day. It was the best day ever for her and she did not let her cancer spoil running after the ball or the ring toss game. On the day she told us it was time our vet came to our house and put her to sleep. We put a blanket down under our big tree. Not till after did we see she left us with the ball still in her mouth. She played with the ball 27-7.
