Mr. Kitty

Forever in our hearts

We adopted Mr. Kitty from the ARL of Des Moines in Dec. of 2011. His name at the time was Monkey but since he had 2 older part Siamese sisters, also from the ARL who have since passed, we started referring to him as Mr. Kitty and the name stuck. He was not lappy until more recently, but he was almost always near us or beside us. He loved playing with the laser dot and would come into the bedroom at night and stare at me until I got it out for a good chase. He had his nightly routine of following us upstairs where he would wait for me by the bathroom door and then have his lazer play before heading downstairs for the night where he would sleep on Irving's chair until pushing the bedroom door open in the morning to start another day. The exception was that sometimes he would come up in the middle of the night for a good neck knead and ear kisses before heading back downstairs after waking us up. We always knew he was on his way, because he would meow before his arrival. We also had an afternoon nap routine where he would come up with me and poke me with his paw for treats before sacking out near me on the bed. I would eventually give him the closed bag of Temptations which he would then proceed to sleep on. He loved to give ear kisses and put his paws around Irving's neck.

He had always had allergies but seemed otherwise healthy and succumbed to fast moving face cancer that had not even manifested in March when I took him to the vet for allergies. It seemed to come out of nowhere and was finally evident in mid May inside his mouth when I took him in for what I thought was more allergy relief because other than a little swelling on the right side, there was no external indication, The tumor grew quickly, and, worse than losing him was how fast it happened. He was supposed to be here at least a few more years or longer. This time last month, we had no clue.

We will miss our furry buddy. We should have had more time."
