MUGGINS
Forever in our hearts
I bought My MUGGINS from the daughter of a friend of mine. He was less than a year old and was mostly all legs. He was purported to be a mix of German Shepherd and Rottweiler. He and I rescued two other dogs and since I was a retired Fire Captain we were inseparable day and night. One afternoon in his sixth year I noticed him limping. It was no better the next day so we went to his vet. A grass spear was found in the pad of his foot and was removed but the area kept looking worse and would not heal. Were were sent to an Oncologist who diagnosed it as cancer. Chemo was ordered and was to be administered by my own vet. The chemo gave him good and bad days and as the forth treatment was coming due I was told that it was called The Red Death and if he survived it he could have another year here on Earth; it killed him...
I had him cremated and scattered his cremanes both at a nearby lake that we all loved to explore as well as in my back yard.
Looking back I now believe that the Lord taking him home was his way of telling me I had a job to do. I became a full time animal rescuer and each rescue is a tribute to My MUGGINS.
