Pugsley
Forever in our hearts
Pugsley was my first dog and I had his name picked out before I even met him. At 7 weeks old on the day before Valentine's Day, I brought him home and he quickly became the love of my life! He was so gentle and loving towards every person and animal he met. Because of his personality, I decided to train him to become a Therapy Dog at age eight. For 6 years, we visited a local nursing home together. He brought so much joy to those who needed it. Shortly after he turned 13, my vet noticed a lesion under his tongue during a dental cleaning and unfortunately, it was cancer. For one year and three weeks after that diagnosis, I made sure Pugsley was happy and comfortable. Sometimes when he was eating, his mouth would bleed so the vet recommended I wet his food to make it easier for him. That worked for a few months and then I noticed he was not able to drink water. At that point, I got a syringe and gave him water that way. Then he wasn't able to eat on his own, but still wanted to, so the vet recommended I use a pastry bag with special canned food which I was able to do for a few months until I had to make the inevitable decision. Pugsley passed away peacefully on January 21, 2016, with me and my husband and our other Pug, Cocoa, by his side. I miss him every day and am thankful to have had him in my life for as long as I did. I always called him "my little angel" and I know he is still with me in spirit. I miss you Pugsley and l will LOVE you FOREVER!
