Reuger

Forever in our hearts
My sweet, patient, talkative Reuger said good-bye to us March 5, 2015 after living 1 year with hemangiosarcoma. As a German Shorthaired Pointer, he lived an active, happy life for almost the entire time, even after he was also diagnosed with pancreatic cancer half-way through the year. What a strong 12-year-old pup to fight both of those awful enemies at the same time! He continued following me from room to room, trotting along as we walked or hiked, finding the best bed in the house, covering himself up with comforters, and eating everything he could get his mouth around. Such a happy, happy boy! He was under the care of both a holistic vet as well as a western medicine vet and they both said Reuger was strong, amazing, remarkable. And he WAS. Only in his last few days did everything change. That insidious heart tumor finally decided to crank it up and completely overwhelmed his body. It was clear that Reuger was done and desperately needed to be released. Thankfully, we could help him slip away calmly, peacefully. Reuger was a rescue dog who gave so much more to me in love, companionship and sweet cuddling than I could ever have hoped for. He deserved to have abundant love and nurturing every day and it was so easy to give him exactly what he wanted.
