Sadie and Sarah

The picture is of two thirteen year old sisters – Sadie & Sarah. Litter mates who never have been apart. Sharing mother’s milk, to the vets for Spading, Summer on the Pond and Winter walks through the neighborhood. Sarah is lying there losing life. Sadie watched over her all afternoon. I sat in the kitchen watching their last hours together. I believed I could understand what they were saying. Sarah told Sadie, ”don’t be afraid – hold your head high and walk proud“. “Remember me always in your heart”. Time came too quickly – and as we carried Sarah to the car in her favorite blanket she turned her head to Sadie and said,” goodbye Little Sade, we had a great life together”. Sadie looked back at her sister and said,” Walk slow Sweet Sarah and I’ll catch up”. It was one year almost to the day when Sadie left us to go and catch up with her sister – Sweet Sarah Rose. That year Sadie did walk proud………….and I felt the Sadness in her heart.
