Simon

Forever in our hearts

Simon was a foundling.  He came into my life on May 26th 2006 after a friend found a scared little lost bird on a balcony in her apartment building.  He was malnourished and underweight.  My veterinarian said give him a lot of love because he would  have a short life due to his early circumstances.  He surprised everyone by overcoming the difficult start he had in life and living until age 20 when he passed away after a brief illness on June 1st 2026.

Simon was a lover.  He always had a special song for those he loved.

Simon was not a great flyer although he took great joy in doing so when he was able to fly.  Therefore, he enjoyed the game of stepping on my finger, lifting off and spreading his wings as he held on,  was carried throughout the house and showed that he was a Top Gun.

Simon brought joy to all who knew him.  He will be greatly missed by me and by his fellow companion parrots, Sweetiepie (Cockatiel) and Baby (Meyers Parrot).

The journey through grief is different for everyone, but we know support, community and sharing stories help make the experience one of remembrance, renewal and even celebration of the life lost. We hope you find comfort in the memorial you’ve set up for your companion and encourage you to share with family and friends so they can show their love and support.
