Sisu

Forever in our hearts
Sisu was our flying cat. A Maine Coon cat, he was bred to be large and loving. Because of his malformed kidneys at birth, he was small but more loving than you could imagine. As a kitten, we held him in unusual spatial orientations to accustom him to unusual spaces. It worked! He took his first flight in our small plane when he was 8 months old. He was safely in a seat belt platform and slept most of the trip, but he loved to look out the window when we were taking off and landing. The flight line attendants were always surprised to see a cat in the plane. Everyone knew his name (not ours), and children would run over to pet him and hear his loud purring. He logged 41 hours of flight time! Now he rests in one of his destinations in Wisconsin, buried under his favorite climbing tree. We had Sisu for only a little over 2 years, but he was one special kitty who will forever be in our hearts.
