Sully
Forever in our hearts
"If love would have saved you, you would have lived forever".
Sully was my pride and joy for 12 years. He loved people and everyone loved him. He was diagnosed with his first cancer (fibrosarcoma) in 2007 and had radiation therapy. He recovered well and we thought that was the end of it. However, in 2014, Sully developed a bone tumor with a fracture of his right front leg. It was determined that he had osteosarcoma (probably due to the radiation from 2007). He had his leg amputated in May, 2014. Then came chemotherapy. He was so brave. Living in Vermont, all his treatments were 2-3 hour drives one way. He was such a good boy. He continued to be his sweet self, making everyone he met smile. It was hard for him to adjust to the loss of his leg. By the Fall, 2015 I noticed that it was getting harder and harder for him to walk. I wasn't about to give up on independence for him and found "Fitter Critters" in Lee, MA. There was a physical therapist doing canine rehabilitation and there was a pool!! Sully loved to swim and I had been looking for this opportunity for him since his surgery. We went for his evaluation and the therapist questioned a large hard area on the back of his shoulder. As it turned out, Sully had his first and last swim that day. Our Vet found a large area of yet a third cancer and I had to let him go. I hate canine cancer. It robbed me of my best friend. We have to find a cure.
