Tajya

Forever in our hearts
Tajya was a 9 year old Black German Shepherd. I adopted her two years earlier from a Shepherd rescue. She came with some dog socialization issues. I worked hard to give her a great loving home. I remember two things that really make me smile and shows how much she enjoyed being with me and I with her. One was how she would come from behind me and nuzzle her nose in my hand. The other is, we went every where together in the car. It's when I am outside alone or driving in my car that I miss her most. She had been having problems breathing. I took her to the vet a few weeks before she died, but x-rays and blood work showed nothing. She was getting worse when the Vet admitted he had done everything and recommended a specialist. On a Friday I took her to see the specialist. He did an ultrasound and found her lymph nodes in her groin enlarged and a mass near her anal gland. They did x-rays and the x-rays showed that her lungs were full of cancer. He took a needle aspirate of the mass. That weekend was horrible. On Monday it was confirmed that she had cancer in that anal gland. On Wednesday I put her to sleep. I laid on the floor next to her as she went to sleep and kept telling her how much mommie loved her. I couldn't believe how fast it went. It's been two years and I still grieve over her loss. She was with me for far to short of a time. It seems so unfair. She was a lovely, special girl and I will miss her for the rest of my life. ~Lynn
