Tipper
Forever in our hearts
There have been 3,but Tipper was the most special.Born to a German Shepherd mother who ran with a local pack of dogs in a local park.He was 1 of litter of 11.A local rescue got the litter from under a building, never could get the mother.I fostered Tipper and 2 siblings.Tipper was the last taken from the crate."Love at first sight",though plans were for the 3 to go to another rescue in a couple of weeks,he stayed,4 weeks.
My mother died in 1996,my dad's health had him home bound and our two dogs, were seniors. My dad died in 2003,Tipper was 5 months old.Tipper,a name given him,by the lady who helped rescue him and siblings, because of the white tip on his tail.My dad met him not long after his siblings went to the other rescue.I put him in a tote and slipped him into my dad's hospital room.
After 10 years, cancer found Tipper, with little guidance, from the vet who found it and little money to fight it,When,we got to UT at Knoxville, surgery wasn't an option, for him to maintain his quality of life. Our next option,Palliative Radiation treatments,4 to start. If he reacted well, then we would have more time and maybe more treatments. For 4 weeks, once a week,he and I made the long 1 day trip.He was so good through it all.He got those treatments, thanks to strangers through gofundme. The tumor was gone for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but the cancer was still there.Prepared to loose him to cancer, after 5 extra months.Bloat took him.Totally not prepared.Shy of his 11th birthday.
