Vic(toria)

Forever in our hearts
American Brittany Rescue flew Vic(toria) to me from the great Midwest and it was love at first sight, a Britt with a tail! I loved being Vic's Mom and she was my constant companion. She came to work with me daily and became an unofficial therapy dog for many campus students with her loving, wise, yet silent counsel. She would run around like a pup on fire, listen to me sing off key on long car rides, and cuddle just when you needed it. Vic raised my godchildren and they considered her their dog, too, as she kissed them each on the head to claim them a few days after being born. Somehow she knew just when I, or others she loved, needed her. She loved all her people with all her heart and I loved her with all mine. Vic came along with my partner and I when we were looking for houses with a backyard just for her after many years of being a city gal. In early May, however, her energy started to fade suddenly and she seemed to have trouble walking. The first vet said it was arthritis, but that did not feel right. The second vet diagnosed her with pelvic osteosarcoma and it was a battle. While house hunting one couple let Vic roam the backyard; we bought that house but Vic never played in her yard after the initial visit. She passed a few weeks before we moved in. Her spirit and heart live on, however, not only in her backyard but in the hearts of all the people she touched, especially her Mom...
